Dreamy Guest Room – One Room Challenge Week 6

May 16, 2022

It’s One Room Challenge week 6 and the dreamy guest room officially has a pink piano! You know what? It just occurred to me that I never even explained why there is a piano in our guest room. I rearranged our living room a while back and moved the television to the nook where the piano lived. I had no other place to put it except the guest room so I just decided to make it part of the aesthetic. šŸ˜‰

The paint color I decided to go with is Angelico by Behr. It’s just the right amount of pink. I also decided to use a new enamel paint instead of my go-to Valspar cabinet and furniture enamel. I’ve heard good things about the Benjamin Moore Advance Alkyd so I just had to give it a try. My first impression was that it seems very low odor, which I appreciate. It also sprays like a dream.

I had to create a makeshift paint booth to spray the piano and it worked really well! I taped off the keys and feet and wheels of the piano so no overspray got on them.

I also polished the knobs and feet with Barkeepers Friend. I had no idea it removed tarnish so easily.

Iā€™m in love with how this painted piano turned out!! It looks so much better than before with all the scratches and water marks. It had definitely seen better days.

I also had time to stain the bed with the white stain/golden oak combo. I love how it turned out! Now I just have to apply some poly.

The wallpaper is here and I cannot wait to get it up. I think it will really tie everything together. Stay tuned for that during week 7! We are almost there!
